Birdie Bread

The last time I went to our local bird store, I saw some bird bread mix and thought I’d give it a try.

bread1The ingredients are: polenta*, whole wheat flour*, yellow corn*, carrots*, sweet potato, blueberries, cherries, coconut, flax seed, buckwheat groats*, quinoa* and Mmmmmmillet*.

*organic

b2The recipe called for two eggs, one cup of water and two tablespoons of vegetable oil. Cooper supervised. Or should I say, “Coopervised”?

We used a glass loaf pan. No non-stick pans allowed – teflon fumes are toxic for budgies!

b3Cooper wasn’t too sure about this glop – but into the oven it went for 30 minutes.

eAt first they budgies didn’t know what to make of it. I threw some lettuce in to help tempt them. Sunny was more interested in chewing up the paper plate. Cooper (the finickiest of the flock) was the first to give the bread a try.

e3It wasn’t too long before they all gave it a nibble.

ceCooper gives Momma Bird’s Birdie Bread 5 stars!
