Ideally all budgies would be fully flighted. Well, ideally budgies wouldn’t be pets and would be flying free.
I can see why some do clip – for safety reasons (environmental, other pets, etc.), but I believe flight is important for a budgie’s health and happiness.
Our budgies all came clipped, which did make it easier to tame them, and for them to learn to fly (and not into the walls) as their wings grew out. Our flock is all fully flighted (except for our new bird, Felix, who arrived with his wings already clipped). We love that ours can zip about.
I love that clip! Especially the little green rebel at 6:11. And how amazing that his flock performs all those tricks without flying away. I don’t think mine would be as well behaved…
Can’t get past the fact that they are all clipped. Not amused.
