He played &#8220;Jackie&#8221; in the <em>Our Gang<\/em> short films. Other movies he starred in as a child included <em>Treasure Island<\/em> and <em>The Champ<\/em>. He starred in many projects as an adult &#8211; one of the most well known was as editor Perry White in the <em>Superman<\/em> films.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/jcoop.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1903\" title=\"jcoop\" src=\"http:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/jcoop.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"696\" height=\"1000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/jcoop.jpg 696w, https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/jcoop-208x300.jpg 208w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/a>He also worked behind the camera &#8211; and won two Emmys for directing.<\/p>\n<p>He served in the United States Navy during World War II and remained active in the reserves for the next several decades, reaching the rank of Captain.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper participated in several automobile racing events, including the record-breaking class D cars at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jackie Cooper\u00a0 (September 15, 1922\u00a0\u2013 May 3, 2011) Jackie Cooper was an American actor, television director, producer and executive.
