It looked like a crime scene! I checked all the budgies and it turned out it was Alfie. He had a bloody foot.<a href=\"http:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/toe.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5771\" alt=\"toe\" src=\"http:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/toe.jpg\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/toe.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/toe-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/toe-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a>I had to clean him up a little to find out exactly what was going on. Which started the bleeding again. Turns out he had broken a toenail.<a href=\"http:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/kwik.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5772\" alt=\"kwik\" src=\"http:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/kwik.jpg\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/kwik.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/kwik-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/kwik-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a>I applied styptic powder\u00a0 on his toe to stop the bleeding. Always good to have on hand! Budgies can&#8217;t afford to lose a lot of blood, and can bleed out quickly. Cornstarch (or flour, in a pinch) can also be used to stop bleeding from a broken toenail or blood feather. If the bleeding doesn&#8217;t stop &#8211; take your budgie to the vet quickly.<\/p>\n<p>The bleeding soon stopped and I put the divider in the cage so Alfie could have some quiet time to recover. <a href=\"http:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/bell.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5773\" alt=\"bell\" src=\"http:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/bell.jpg\" width=\"1000\" height=\"950\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/bell.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/bell-300x285.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cooperscorner.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/bell-315x300.jpg 315w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a>Not that he needed it. He ate his fill of millet (a treat for being such a good patient) and then started playing with his beloved bell.
