I Scream, You Scream

We all scream for budgie ice cream??icJapan’s Torimi cafe is serving up budgie ice cream (other flavors are cockatiel and java sparrow). The ice cream is not made from the birds, but is a combination of what the birds eat and the flavor of the birds. “Parakeet” has a vanilla ice cream base with honey, apple and grains blended in. According to Torimi cafe, β€œIt’s like eating some vanilla ice cream in one hand, and then taking a whiff of a parakeet in your other hand.”SONY DSCThe ice cream was so successful, Torimi added ice cream sandwiches to the line. They can only make 20 batches at a time and are having trouble keeping up with demand.icsandWould you like to try budgie ice cream? deweyPhoto of Dewey from July 2012.

  1. I want to try both the cockatiel and budgie ice cream as well as the ice cream sandwiches. My female budgies smell like fresh paper and the males smell like Ramen noodles…

  2. I could do without the ice cream but I’d love to whiff the Budgie scent! I’m a nut–I know. My sweet little PBFD Budgie-gal (“GiGi”) smelled delicately delicious–like fresh birdseed and honeysuckle. Her scent was most noticeable when she got wet (while showering her). Sweet & tasty ! Then again, she consistently rejected broccoli & other healthful treats that may have altered her scent–And I guess broccoli doesn’t smell fantastic as some of you attest.

    • I absolutely LOVE the scent of budgie. As far as I am concerned it is the best smell in the world… Maybe I’m weird (ok, i know I am), but I do. πŸ™‚

      • I agree – the scent of budgie is The Best!
(That said, I still would not want it in ice cream…)

  3. Who would really WANT to eat this? Hopefully they do NOT expand, into dog or cat ice cream…or horse ice cream…or cow ice cream…or God forbid, skunk ice cream!

    HUGS….
