I love your budgie pictures. We just got a new little boy ( I think) yesterday. Our girl died about a year ago and we decided it was time. I am worried because he hasn’t had any food or water yet. He is a sweet little boy, very gentle he got on my finger and I rubbed his chest and he didn’t bite. Any advice for his transition would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lori
Hi Lori,
Has your little one started eating and drinking yet? He might be frightened/stressed at the transition and not ready to explore his cage yet. We’ve had that happen with a couple of our budgies when they first came home. I’m guessing he’s just getting acclimated to his new surroundings.
Young budgies (especially from pet stores) are used to their food bowls being on the ground. If you have a food dish that can be placed on the ground, you might try that. I would also try a sprig of millet. It’s hard for budgies to resist millet.
There is a lot of great information on the internet – you can always Google “New budgie not eating” and see what pops up. If it goes on too long, I would call a vet. Budgies can’t go too long without eating or drinking. You can always email me, too at the blue “Cooper” contact link above. Let me know how it’s going with your new budgie. I’d love to see photos and know what you name him : ).
Cooper photobomb! The budgie butt it VERY cute! My parakeet has a white butt too!
Emmy has a white bum as well. Love their little pantaloons!
Gari says”Thanks for the info, we must be long lost parakeet sisters!

You are too funny!…
Miss kauai is always showing me her white butt! LOL
Well, I’m sure it’s worth showing off. ; )
There is not ONE part of the budgie that is anything but irreproachable. O, spotless butt.
Right!
Budgie butts are the best 😉
