  1. Please don’t take this badly-
I have a (very well meant) question for you; do you feed Cooper and Dewey vegetables and greens (or any other foods) along with their seed??

If not, feeding those foods is a really great thing to do- it can lengthen a budgie’s life considerably.
I’m no expert, and I really don’t want to sound like I’m saying you’re doing a bad job caring for those budgies; they’re beautiful birds.

I love Cooper and Dewey and their budgie blog.

    Thanks

    • No offense taken (a post about this will be coming up soon). I give the budgies fruits and vegetables (organic). Have not had much success in them eating them, but I keep trying. Cooper will sometimes eat lettuce and has nibbled on spinach. I’ve tried strawberries, carrots, apples, orange, peaches, etc. But they just sit there untouched. I’ve even tried sprinkling millet on some to entice them. I keep trying, though. I’m sure one day something will click.

I’m planning on picking up some of this, too at the vet’s. I’ve been hearing good things about it: http://www.harrisonsbirdfoods.com/products/harrisons.html

      • Have you tried eating the food in front of your birds? This never actually worked with my budgie, but everything I read says it works.
I got my budgie boy to eat celery by pulling some of the little string things out partly. he found them interesting and nibbled them.

        • Sure have – I’ve tried a few things that I’ve read on the TalkBudgies forum. I’m hoping one day something will click. I’m going to get some broccoli at the store today. Harry said that Cooper once nibbled on his. But I want to make sure it’s organic. You’ll have to send me a pic of your budgie!
