Meet Fred!Fred lives in the UK with Jenny and her family. Despite being touted as ‘hand raised’, Fred was pretty scared when he came. I think it’s just his natural disposition. Everything new is worthy of a corn dog pose: standing straight up like he’s got a poker in his bum. But he’s learning to trust me and is finding his bravery. He loves his kids. And singing with a YouTube budgie called Banco.Seeds are his passion, lol. At the moment, Fred is refusing to eat his veggies and fruits. And his mash, as well.(Michelle: I’m sure with persistence, he’ll come around. Who could resist that lovely homemade mash?)Fred still doesn’t play with his toys, but he will happily stand on his daisy perch and watch the world go by through the window.I wouldn’t say he’s a contented budgie, but life is starting to be more interesting, and he’s becoming more curious than scared as the days go by. I think Fred has done very well for only being here a month.
Fred is a really cute bird. Those are some great photos of him.
I just love Fred! He is so darling and is doing great for just one month! It was hard to choose photos of him, there are so many terrific shots of him.
Cooper loves the Banco video, too. It’s what I think helped us bond. She would come out of her cage to perch on my finger when I played it : ).
Maybe you need a second budgie to show Fred how to eat his fruits and veggies ; ).
Fred is adorable! He is such a lovely bright shade of green. It took my Allen forever to try veggies, but now he eats lettuce and carrots and occasionally other stuff; I’m sure Fred will come around 🙂
Fred is a cutie!! Nice photography!
I bet Fred will morph into a confident, outgoing fella after a few more consistent weeks with such fun-loving, caring kids & human adults. Something tells me he’ll be quick to pick his “favorite” person and that it just might be the little boy whose shirt collar he’s perched on. 🙂
I luv Fred! I can just tell he’s super-smart. His face shows intelligence, as does his habit of shyly taking in and observing every thing around him before deciding how to respond. Plus, introverts are plain “wise,” everyone knows that! LOL. I may be wrong but something tells me he’s going to end up bonding with and “attaching” himself to VERY intensely with one or more kids in the family and the kids will quickly become his favorite. P.S. His pinnies (pin feathers) are too adorable–maybe in time he’ll let you help preen them!
