In the spotlight – Sido!

Bringing Sido home from the bird rescue was one of the best decisions we ever made. She just loves to hang out with us (Harry, especially). She greets us with a chirp or whistle when we walk by. “Hey, come get me!” is what I think she’s saying.

She has figured out bathing now. She’s gone from just standing in the water to fluffing her feathers. I think a bigger bathtub helped. That and Harry sprinkling water on her back.

This is her spot on the computer. If I want to get any typing done – too bad!

Sido Saturday

We gave Sido a bath. I’m not sure if she had ever had one before. It took her awhile to approach the water, but she finally got in. And then just stood there. No splashing or playing in the water. She’ll climb out and then climb in again and stand there. Well, at least her feet are clean : ).

Recently, we received a package from Susan and her flock. Inside was this lovely card, with a sticker for each of the birds,A Sido “mini mi”,an adorable cockatiel ring,and a shreddable play mat that Sido is happily taking apart.We are so very lucky to have such wonderful friends – thank you so much Susan!

Introducing Sido!

Last month we visited our local bird rescue (Free Flight Exotic Bird Sanctuary) and met a little cockatiel named Sido. She was found in a dog park in November.She was very friendly and loved having her head scritched.Of course, we fell in love with her.So we decided to adopt her. Here we are with Sido on the day we brought her home (the eclectus parrot is Timmy, a little fellow that we are now sponsoring).Sido has been with us for one week now. She’s currently in quarantine in Harry’s office. Here she is in front of her flight cage.She’s missing her tail feathers (only has two on one side) and the toenail/tip of one toe. We’re going to let her wings grow out. She likes her veggies. Here she is enjoying some kale.

Sido is very calm and gentle (a bit of a change from our busy little budgies). She likes to play with her toys. Dropping a ball over the side of the cage is fun.So is playing with her crinkle paper on the couch.She’s a “people bird” and is content to sit on our shoulders or on the play gym while we watch tv.She’s a little love and we’re so glad that she’s part of the family. Welcome to the flock, Sido!
