Movie Review
This month’s movie is The Sentinel. In The Sentinel, young model Alison Parker moves into a Brooklyn apartment building. Strange things begin to occur. Is Alison going insane, or is her new address THE GATEWAY TO HELL?*Cooper’s favorite actor in the movie was Mortimer, the budgie from Brazil. Mortimer had only three scenes, but he stole the show. Cooper was only allowed to watch a tiny portion of the movie, as it is too disturbing for a little budgie (Mortimer meets an untimely end). The parts she didn’t see were kinky (there is nudity) and gruesome. There are a lot of well known actors in the film (Jeff Goldblum, Burgess Meredith, Ava Gardner, Christopher Walken, Richard Dreyfuss, etc.) and quite a few character actors, too. Is this movie bad (in a cheesy, bizarre so bad it’s good way), or just bad? You be the judge.
*It’s a gateway to hell.

Cooper’s Book Report
This month’s book is Flight of the Battered Budgie (in the Undead Pets series) by Sam Hay.A wish on an Egyptian amulet causes Joe to be the protector of undead pets. Buddy the undead budgie shows up in Joe’s classroom looking for help. Buddy’s owner (the school lunch lady) is being swindled by her sister. Can Joe help bring the deception to light and help Buddy move on to his final destination?Cooper enjoyed the adventures of Joe and Buddy. She thought the illustrations by Simon Cooper(!) were cute. Her favorite parts of the book were when Buddy would get stuck in a loop repeating phrases he had been taught. She also liked that only Joe could see and hear Buddy, which lent to some amusing situations. Cooper was pleased that Buddy (with Joe’s help) saved the day. Cooper would recommend this book to anyone who likes a fun read – especially on Halloween!

Lolita (a Yellow-Naped Amazon) sings “Bodies” by Drowning Pool. Cooper thinks this is a great song for Halloween.
Cooper’s Cuties
Meet Bullet!Bullet lives with Des in Florida. You can see more of Bullet’s photos on Des’s Deviant Art page.Bullet likes her spinny bells. She likes to get in between them. She also has jacks she throws and balls she pushes around. She’s very aggressive with her toys and likes to fight with them.I raised Bullet from a baby and took one photo everyday of her life for about 25 days to log her growth. I had no idea that was having an effect on her. The effect was she LOVES my camera and is very jealous and protective of it.She doesn’t like me taking pics of other birds or things. She does everything she can to be in front of the camera. I was taking pics of the Halloween decor next to her cage and she jumped on me and bit me. So funny as she wanted pics of her only. She’s a white lacewing not an albino. You can see the tan markings on her wings, beard and tail in some photos. She’s very feisty and a high maintenance budgie. But I love her and she’s a lot of fun. There are some videos of her on you YouTube too. My name there is Thagirion9.
