Spent his youth on his father’s vast cattle farm in Missouri.
Served in the Coast Guard after high school.
Studied ballet at Stephens College and majored in agriculture and acting at the University of Missouri.
Has appeared in such movies as: American Beauty, Sea Biscuit, Syriana, October Sky and Adaptation (for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor).
Cooper’s favorite Chris Cooper performance is as Douglas in Where the Wild Things Are.
Movie review – Barbarella
This month’s movie was Barbarella.
This movie, based on a French comic strip, is about the adventures of Barbarella. Barbarella (played by Jane Fonda) is sent to the planet Tau Ceti to retrieve the evil Doctor Durand Durand. Cooper thought this movie was ridiculous, but loved all the costume changes. Cooper’s favorite scene was when Barbarella was put in a cage to be pecked to death by birds.

There are many constellations in the universe. Many are named for birds. They include Apus (bird of paradise ), Aquila (eagle), Columba (dove), Corvus (crow), Cygnus (swan), Grus (crane), Pavo (peacock), Phoenix (mythical bird) and Tucana (toucan).
How the astronomers missed this one, I’ll never know.
