Pellets.

We recently added pellets to the budgies’ diet. I’ve read great things about Harrison’s, so we’re using the Harrison’s High Potency Super Fine Formula. After 6 months we switch to the Adult Lifetime Formula.

On the first day, Dewey was so angry at the switch he almost dumped the food bowl over. I wish I had a video of it. The pellets stay in the cage all day and we feed them seed twice a day. So far, the pellets remain untouched. But I hear persistence and patience win out in the end. We’ll see…

What’s in the box?

Don’t worry, Brad. It’s just a little budgie.

Meet our new little budgie. He doesn’t have a name yet. I picked him up at the animal shelter today. He had been attacked by a cat. Yikes! A good Samaritan found him and called the shelter to pick him up. We have no idea where he originally came from (he has no leg band). His injuries are almost healed and he’s almost as good as new. He’s in a separate cage and will be in quarantine in a different room than Cooper and Dewey for at least 30 days.

I love him already.

A contest for Cooper

Lay’s is currently running a contest to come up with a new potato chip flavor. First prize is 1 million dollars, so Cooper couldn’t wait to enter.

First she did a little research…

Then she entered her flavor combination on the Lays facebook app.

Now she just needs to wait for the results and that million dollar check!

Out and about

My adorable nephew Cole came over the other day.

Here he is with Cooper and Dewey.

We went to Seaport Village. One of the local bird rescue organizations brought their birds out.

Here’s Cole posing with a sun conure.

We got a couple of balloon animals. Cole got Pluto and I got a budgie. Well, it’s supposed to be a budgie. The balloon guy didn’t know what a parakeet was (!), so this was the best he could do.
