A day in the life of Alfie

Alfie loves to eat. Here he is “helping” me fill the feeders for breakfast.Always with the food on the face.I’m not sure which Alfie loves more – food or his bells. He gets anxious when we take the bells out to clean them.Making sure Harry did a good job.Playtime!A little grooming…Proofreading Cooper’s Corner. Alfie likes to sit on my hand when I type – I’m getting pretty good at typing “budgie style”. WOW! Look at all that lettuce (an Alfie favorite). Alfie is always the first one to the food. Alfie also loves baths. He is a budgie of many passions.Recharging his budgie batteries. …and ready to go! Here’s a clip of our little Alfiebug in action:

Some of the budgies (Lera and Emmy) love to destroy their broccoli florets. Broccoli goes everywhere! So I changed things up by putting their food clips on the bottom of the cage (out of the poop zones). It’s a new way for the flock to eat their veggies and it contains most of the mess.

Holiday Cheer

The budgies made quite a haul this holiday season!

We bought the budgies some new footie toys. Although they’re kind of big for footie toys…From their Uncle Polt, seed treats (I just set them on the bottom of the cage, for mult-budgie access), and this great rope toy (Ozzie’s favorite).From the budgies’ Uncle Adam, a gift card (which will buy some great toys and millet)!And Adam sent me this amazing picture of all our beautiful budgies. I love it so much!From Uncle David – more treats!Say, how do you open these anyway?From Erin, Duckie and Sailor – these adorable budgie socks. Parakeet perfection!And for the budgies, vine balls stuffed with crinkle paper. The budgies went NUTS over them.From Susan and her flock, this beautiful wine glass with budgie charm (which filled in as Cooper’s Christmas tree topper) and a budgie to-do list to keep me on my toes.The budgies (and I) are so lucky to have such wonderful, thoughtful friends. You all made our Christmas cheerful and bright. We hope you all had as happy a holiday season as we did. Love to all the Cooper’s Corner readers!

Budgie Care Package

Look what arrived in the mail!A package filled with treats and toys for the budgies from my wonderful niece Surena! Here is Alfie with the disco bell. Alfie loves his bells! This is a favorite of the boys (who love chatting up their reflections in shiny surfaces).Here is Lera with the hypno wheel. She was playing with it, but every time she saw the camera, she would turn around and pose.The seed sticks were a big hit as were the dried greens. Above – Cooper. Below – Sunny.They started squabbling over the sticks, so I put them at the bottom of the cage where they could all snack together.Here is Alfie again (with the ever present food on his face). Alfie is always first on the scene when food enters the cage.

The budgies loved their gifts! The flock has been a little quiet since Gordie left, so the care package was definitely a welcome surprise. Thank you so much Surena!
