Bird Toy Bonanza!

LOTS of photos. Because Cooper’s friend Shivangi sent the flock LOTS of toys. These spoiled birds have been having so much fun playing with all their gifts that it was difficult to get photos that weren’t big blurs of motion. It’s hard to pose when you’re in destructo mode!

This is COOPER’S platform perch. Stay off if you are not COOPER.
Before the destruction.
Millets! Cooper actually went for the “whipped cream” first.
Sweet Sunny before destructo mode.
Emmy makes her claim.
A new toy for Riley to be smiley about.
Felix striking a pose.
Ozzie bein’ cute.
Sido takes time out from nibbling to pose.

Shivangi – thank you so, so much for all the wonderful gifts! The flock sends you love and birdie kisses. xoxo

Out and About

Some photos of Riley out and about and with the flock.

Sunny, Felix, Ozzie, Riley and Emmy (Sunny is in the condo).

Riley is Emmy’s shadow.

Hanging out in the flight cage.

Riley seems to be doing well with the flock. We still need work with moving her around. She has no problem stepping up, but she steps right back down when you try to move her. We’ll get there…

Cooper!

Cooper is used to the spotlight. She’s been posing for the camera since she was a tiny little budgie.
She is a very curious bird – and very brave. She sometimes comes over to investigate her props before I’ve finished setting them up. It’s not unusual to get the perfect picture in our first shot. She is such a pro!
Cooper is the reason we have a flock. She was an only until the first time we had to leave her for a day. We came back at night and she hadn’t moved from her perch since we left the house. So off we went to find her a little friend (Dewey).
Cooper’s favorite toy is balsa – and she likes her veggies. She loves to sing quietly along with music – she has the sweetest little chirps.
If there is a water dish out, Cooper will find it. She likes to perch on the edge and flirt with bathing. Now that she is older, she doesn’t like to get all the way into her bathtub – so she gets spritzes as well.
I started Cooper’s blog (Cooper’s Corner) almost 10 years ago because I adore her and wanted to share her with the world. She has brought us such love and joy. We have met so many great people through the blog – special friends we’ve even met in real life. She has been such a gift and we treasure every moment with her.

Sido!

With the pandemic (and working from home), Sido became even more attached to Harry. Now that he goes into the office, I have to take her around the house so that she can see he is not home. Once she knows he is not hiding from her, she can get on with her day. She is very happy and excited when he returns. Lots of loud screeching when she hears him coming down the hallway. Hopefully, she is not on my shoulder at the time.
Her favorite food is strawberries. She likes to pick the seeds off and makes quite a mess of them. Flinging mash is also a Sido specialty.
Sido is our little love bug. She loves to be with her humans – riding on a shoulder, watching tv or taking a nap lap. She also enjoys a nice spritz or scritch session. Scritching is the best!

Emmy!

Emmy is our big baby. Big, because she is larger than our other budgies. Baby, because she still has a playful, babyish quality about her. Emmy was rehomed and it took ages to win her trust. She comes out of the cage to play and explore, but she is still a homebody at heart.
Emmy loves Ozzie. He was the first bird to welcome her when we added her to the flock. They have been a couple ever since. She also loves her mash – it usually ends up all over her face.
Emmy has to sleep by herself at night (we have a divided flight cage). She wants to be on the swings or perches of the other birds – especially when they are on them. So that the other birds can get some rest, she must sleep alone. She doesn’t seem to mind, and in the morning she is no longer “banished”.
Our Emmerz is very fluffy and soft. And she smells absolutely wonderful. I’m surprised I haven’t inhaled her by now.

Felix!

Felix – such a handsome fellow. He and Ozzie are best buddies and like to nap right next to each other.
Felix enjoys hanging out in Sido’s cage (our cockatiel) when she is not there. He has fun in the bath and loves to chew up balsa – and he adores the ladies. Especially Cooper.
Felix is rehomed. He was a biter when he came to us, and will on occasion give us a nip. You never really know if you will get a sweet kiss or the business end of a sharp beak. But he still gets a kiss every night at bedtime. The secret is to be quick : ).

Sunny!

Sunny (who is at least 9 now) has arthritis and no longer flies. She gets plenty of exercise, though, by running around on the floor with the flock. When she is ready to go back into the flight cage, she steps onto our feet and looks up at us. She is very polite. At night, Sunny sleeps in her “condo” so that she does not fall off a high perch.
Sunny (aka Bunny, Sunnybuns or Bunnerz) is our gentle little sweetheart. She loves chewing on balsa and cuttlebones. Her favorite activity is taking a bath and she goes nuts when we spritz her. I think she would spend all day bathing if she could.
Sunny definitely brings light into our lives.
