Emmy!

Emmy is our big baby. Big, because she is larger than our other budgies. Baby, because she still has a playful, babyish quality about her. Emmy was rehomed and it took ages to win her trust. She comes out of the cage to play and explore, but she is still a homebody at heart.
Emmy loves Ozzie. He was the first bird to welcome her when we added her to the flock. They have been a couple ever since. She also loves her mash – it usually ends up all over her face.
Emmy has to sleep by herself at night (we have a divided flight cage). She wants to be on the swings or perches of the other birds – especially when they are on them. So that the other birds can get some rest, she must sleep alone. She doesn’t seem to mind, and in the morning she is no longer “banished”.
Our Emmerz is very fluffy and soft. And she smells absolutely wonderful. I’m surprised I haven’t inhaled her by now.

Felix!

Felix – such a handsome fellow. He and Ozzie are best buddies and like to nap right next to each other.
Felix enjoys hanging out in Sido’s cage (our cockatiel) when she is not there. He has fun in the bath and loves to chew up balsa – and he adores the ladies. Especially Cooper.
Felix is rehomed. He was a biter when he came to us, and will on occasion give us a nip. You never really know if you will get a sweet kiss or the business end of a sharp beak. But he still gets a kiss every night at bedtime. The secret is to be quick : ).

Sunny!

Sunny (who is at least 9 now) has arthritis and no longer flies. She gets plenty of exercise, though, by running around on the floor with the flock. When she is ready to go back into the flight cage, she steps onto our feet and looks up at us. She is very polite. At night, Sunny sleeps in her “condo” so that she does not fall off a high perch.
Sunny (aka Bunny, Sunnybuns or Bunnerz) is our gentle little sweetheart. She loves chewing on balsa and cuttlebones. Her favorite activity is taking a bath and she goes nuts when we spritz her. I think she would spend all day bathing if she could.
Sunny definitely brings light into our lives.

Ozzie!

After teasing us with a return to a blue cere in June, Ozzie decided to go back to brown. Sigh. We are hoping it is just some kind of hormonal issue.
Other than a brown cere, Ozzie is healthy and full of energy. He loves to fly, take baths, and nibble on his toys and hang out with his buddy Felix. Sometimes they get into a tiff (hormones again), and need to be separated.
Ozzie also loves to groom and be groomed by Emmy.
At bedtime, Ozzie is usually the first one to his swing. He does not like it when he is in “bed” and I take him off his perch for a goodnight kiss. But every budgie must get a kiss goodnight.
Ozzie is our “all around” budgie. Wonderful in every way.
