But budgies are a girl’s best friend.
It’s a budgie charm from Whimsy & Pop on Etsy.It looks like Sunny. I’ll probably make it into a necklace : ).
Sunny has been laying eggs. This is her 6th (we’re currently at 7).
It was 12 days between egg 1 and 2. Then they started coming every other day, with 3 days between the last two. She’s been laying at night or in the wee hours of the morning – and from the perch, so they crack when they hit the cage grate. The egg pictured has a crack on the bottom.Sunny hasn’t been paying attention to the eggs, which is a good thing. We just take them out when we see them. We’re going to rearrange the cage again (and we’ve been limiting their daylight). Hopefully, there will be no more eggs. It’s been a crazy Spring!
*Thanks to Karon (Bert and Ernie’s human) for the title/Sunny’s new nickname : ).
Yet another budgie “joined the flock” anniversary. Well, January is adopt a budgie month…
Three years ago, we brought home this little lemon head. She was for sale on craigslist.

Sunny went from a frightened little bird to a sweet, curious budgie. She is crazy about baths, paper towel tubes and exploring little hidey holes. Her current favorite activity is crawling in and under the bird cage cover (when it’s crumpled on a table). Ozzie is her partner in crime and friend with “benefits”. Every once in awhile I’ll find that the bird on my shoulder is Sunny. She is a shining example that you should never give up on finger taming your budgie. It may takes months (and months and months. And months.), especially if you are working with a rehomed or rescue budgie. But there is no feeling quite like winning over the trust of a budgie. Especially when he or she is as wonderful as out little Sunnerbunners.
Happy anniversary Sunny- we love you!
