Harvey has taken a shine to Lera.
Luckily, she is returning his affections.
A lot of grooming is going on.
I’m so happy that Lera has found budgie love again. 
I think they make a cute couple : ).

Harvey meets the flock
We moved Harvey’s cage into the birdroom (might as well just start calling my office this) on Saturday. He’s not stepping up yet, but is close. As soon as he does, he’ll move into the big cage.
Cooper met Harvey first (she’s the calmest of the budgies). We let her visit him when he was in the living room. It wasn’t a love match, but she did let him feed her.

Alfie wasn’t that interested in Harvey. But he was interested in Harvey’s shiny bell.
Emmy had fun playing with the cage handle. It makes such a lovely racket when you repeatedly pick it up and drop it.
Looks like Harvey is ready to come out!
Can’t wait until they’re all together : ).
Birthday Budgie
Look who’s one(ish)!
Harvey hasn’t moved in with the budgies yet – but he’s getting there. I’m able to almost touch him. Stepping up is right around the corner, I think. Then it will be time to meet the flock.
Harvey doesn’t really play with the toys in his cage, though he does look at himself in the dice. I haven’t bought any birthday toys for him yet. Once he moves into the big cage and “becomes a budgie” I’ll know what his toy preferences are. He’s not really into millet and won’t touch his veggies/fruit. I’m hoping the other budgies will show him the way.

Introducing Harvey!
Meet the newest member of the flock! I think we needed something positive to focus on after we lost Gordie, so we decided to adopt a new little one. Gordie definitely inspired us to provide a loving home for unwanted budgies. I wish we could take them all in…
Harry found him on Craigslist*. We’re not sure how old he is (the previous owner said they had him for 6 months and that they had purchased him from Petco). He isn’t banded and his wings are grown out, so who knows? His cage looked like it had never been cleaned (ugh), so we loaded him up in our quarantine cage and spirited him away.
Harvey is very nervous when we approach the cage and flips out when we put our hands in to change out his food and his water. Another taming challenge! He’s been calling to the other birds and I can’t wait for them to meet him. It’s nice to know another lonely bird will have a flock, and I’m glad the other budgies will soon have a new friend. Perhaps Cooper will take a shine to him…
*Harvey was the first budgie (not from a breeder) that was available on our Craigslist search. I think we are fated to have blue birds!
