Caught in the Act

This had been happening recently:

spillOne of the budgies was knocking the seed cups down, spilling perfectly good seed on the bottom of the cage. We suspected Dewey. Though mild-mannered, he has been known to knock around the food cup when it has too many pellets (and not enough oats) in it. But to be sure, we set up the CooperCam to see who the culprit was. We later fast forwarded through three hours of footage and saw this:

badbudgieIt was Sunny! This little one definitely has a naughty streak.

harryHarry got to work and budgie-proofed the seed cups.

haYour move, budgies.

Blue beak

Uh, remember that toy from 3 posts ago? The one I thought would last for more than a week? bbWell, this one* was on a mission to prove me wrong.

*with a little help from Cooper and Ozzie.

bb2She nibbled so much on the blue block that her beak turned blue.

bb3 I couldn’t get a photo of it, but her tongue was blue, too.

bb4She went through 4 of the yucca pieces in 2 days.

bb5Here she is posing with her “kill”.

bb1Here she is in action:

Pardon the poops (some of which, by the way, were blue).

Argh.

The budgies are driving me nuts. They started gnawing on my bookcase, so I covered it with a towel to keep it from becoming a chew toy (Harry is going to rig something up later to prevent this from happening).

sunnyBut now they just climb down the towel and hang off the end to chew on the bookcase. Or even worse, the wall paint – which is a big no no!

naughtytrainAll aboard the naughty train!

sundew

And I don’t know what it is about the window blinds, but I cannot keep the budgies off of them (Dewey is Sunny’s shadow).

sunnynSunny likes to climb under the towel or blinds so I can’t find her. Here she is in action:
