Introducing Sunny

We put Sunny’s cage in the same room with the other budgies.

They seemed excited to see each other.

Then we let Cooper, Dewey and Ozzie out (while Sunny was in her cage) to see how they would behave. Cooper seemed indifferent and Ozzie preferred to play with the string of a toy, but Dewey was fascinated with Sunny. I think he’s in looooooove. And fickle! He’s supposed to be Cooper’s boyfriend…

Hopefully, Sunny will see how we interact with the other budgies and become tamer. She’ll step up while she’s in her cage, but not when she’s out of it.

About three weeks ago, Dewey showed off a new look:

The balding actually got worse than that – but soon his pinnies started to grow in.

Ozzie recently took his first bath. He loved it! The budgies are pretty good at taking turns (well, they do squabble a bit). But the tub is tiny – a bigger one is definitely in order.

Moving Day

Recently, Ozzie packed up all of his belongings and moved in with Cooper and Dewey.

The three are getting along well. Ozzie is very popular. If he’s not hanging out with Cooper, he’s hanging out with Dewey. He’s rarely off on his own.

There has been the occasional squabble, but the budgies are doing a great job sharing their food/toys/perches. Cooper seems to have first dibs on everything, though. Hopefully, Sunny will have an easy move as well.
