Emmy meets the flock

Even though Emmy isn’t finger tame (or even close to being so), we put her cage in the same room with the rest of the flock. We thought maybe Emmy’s presence would be a bit of a distraction for the budgies.

ceCooper didn’t seem too curious about the new girl.

aAlfie showed some initial interest, so I put him in the cage with her. But he just wanted to play with her toy.

fI took all the budgies out to visit.

sleepThey promptly fell asleep.

Poor Emmy – she so wants to be with them, and goes nuts climbing all over the cage to get to them. But the budgies just don’t seem to be interested. Maybe it’s because she’s so young.

oThank goodness for Ozzie. He’s our little welcome wagon. He’ll fly over and visit occasionally with her. What a little sweetie.

More Presents!

The budgies got some fun toys for Christmas. Sorry about the poor quality of the photos. The budgies were in constant action and I took them in the evening (I don’t like to use the flash).ozHere is Ozzie (who is moulting – again) next to the “starburst”. This toy was a definite hit.dewDewey seeing what all the fuss is about.coopCooper hard at work untying the knots.toyNo one would go near this toy – but I’m sure once they figure out it won’t eat them, it will provide lots of fun.sunSunny claiming the “marshmallows”. When she’s busy elsewhere, the other budgies sneak in a nibble.milletThere was feasting on millet and lettuce as well.sp3I had a gift to open, too! These little budgie salt and pepper shakers were from my friend, Craig. They’re so darn cute (almost as cute as the real thing) – thank you Craig!

Presents!

Presents arrived for the budgies!
p1And they just couldn’t wait until Christmas to open them.

p2From Tam – Canadian millet, and from Adam – a giftcard from Petsmart! Cooper is wondering how she can keep them all to herself…

p3Adam also sent this fantastic budgie sticker. Looks like a handsome fellow I know.

Thank you so much Tam and Adam!

XOXO, the flock

Turkey Day*

Today is also the second anniversary of Cooper’s Corner – so the budgies had two reasons to celebrate.

deweyoatDewey started with an appetizer of oats (his favorite). Yum!

sFirst course was a salad.

o1The main course was Momma Bird’s Caribbean Loaf Birdie Bread (with a side of grated carrot). Ozzie digs in.

a1Alfie LOVED the bread.

a2He went back for a second helping.

a3And a third helping. He needs to work on his table manners, though. We don’t get in our food to eat it, Alfie.

mPlease pass the millet!

dThe budgies had fresh Granny Smith apple slices for dessert.

thanks2Happy Thanksgiving!

*Cooper wanted it to be called “Budgie Day” until she found out what happens to the turkeys.

Alfie joins the flock

aAlfie has finally joined the flock!

acHe met Cooper first – she flew into the room he was in when I left the door open. Oops.

allcageWe moved Alfie’s cage next to the budgies’ cage. Cooper made herself right at home (someone has to destroy Alfie’s toys)! Alfie hasn’t moved into the big cage, but gets outside time with the flock. They’re still establishing a pecking order and we’re not comfortable with leaving them alone yet.

allcage2Here they all are on the big cage (which does not seem so big anymore…).

allgymHanging out on the play gym. I’ll have to work on getting a better photo of them together. They’re not very good at staying still.

asAlfie is fascinated with Sunny. Watch out Dewey!

aoAlfie and Ozzie have become buddies. They like to chase Dewey away from Sunny. Double trouble!
