Gordie came out of his cage today to meet the budgies face to face. Here he is with Ozzie (that’s Emmy down below). Ozzie was a little aggressive, so we put him back in the cage.
At first, Gordie just sat in one spot. Here he is with Alfie.
It wasn’t too long before he joined the others. Here he is meeting the girls. He seemed perkier being with the budgies – following them around and chirping.
All the excitement must have tuckered him out. When we put him back in his cage, he went right to sleep. Of course, growing out all those pinnies takes a lot of energy as well!

Quarantine is up!
We moved Gordie’s cage into the budgies’ room.Sunny flew over to check out the new guy.
Cooper was next.
Gordie was pretty calm about all these budgies giving him the once over.
The boys (Alfie and Ozzie) finally came over to see what the fuss was about.
Once we’re sure there won’t be any fighting, Gordie will move into the big cage. Hurray!
Orange!
We Miss You!
The flock really misses Michelle. She went to AZ to visit family and had a freak accident while ice skating, breaking her leg in multiple spots just above the ankle. The budgies were hoping to see her tonight, but she’ll be out for another couple days. Here’s a video of the main flock because I know she would love to see them.
Movin’ On Up
A while ago something arrived in the mail.
(insert “What’s in the box?” joke here)
It was a brand new cage for the budgies! Harry put it together.
Cooper “coopervised”.
Here’s Cooper deciding if Harry’s work is acceptable.
Once she deemed the cage suitable, the budgies moved in.
Alfie is never far from a bell.
Cooper was not too excited about having her picture taken – she is moulting and doesn’t feel she looks her best.
Sunny was too busy taking apart the marshmallow toy to pose.
Emmy sitting pretty. The cage has a divider, which is up at present. Until Emmy is finger tamed we have her separated from the others. Ozzie spends his time going back and forth between sides.
Which is easy to do when you have your own airplane!
Tweethearts!
We have a love match! Ozzie has really taken to Emmy. Lots of nuzzling and kisses going on with these two. I’m so happy that Ozzie has finally found a little girlfriend. Now we just have to get Ozzie to tell Emmy to relax and step up so we can have her join the rest of the flock.
Here are Ozzers and Emmers in action:
Emmy meets the flock
Even though Emmy isn’t finger tame (or even close to being so), we put her cage in the same room with the rest of the flock. We thought maybe Emmy’s presence would be a bit of a distraction for the budgies.
Cooper didn’t seem too curious about the new girl.
Alfie showed some initial interest, so I put him in the cage with her. But he just wanted to play with her toy.
I took all the budgies out to visit.
Poor Emmy – she so wants to be with them, and goes nuts climbing all over the cage to get to them. But the budgies just don’t seem to be interested. Maybe it’s because she’s so young.
Thank goodness for Ozzie. He’s our little welcome wagon. He’ll fly over and visit occasionally with her. What a little sweetie.
Cooper’s Corner 2013 – year in review
Cooper’s Bloopers
We don’t always get the budgies’ photos right on the first shot*. Here are some pics that didn’t make the cut.A carrot beak makes a yummy snack.
Cooper wouldn’t face forward. She really wanted that millet!
I have LOTS of photos of Cooper “undecorating” the tree.
Which one is salt and which one is pepper? Ask Cooper.
* Due to the photographer and through no fault of the models, of course.
More Presents!
The budgies got some fun toys for Christmas. Sorry about the poor quality of the photos. The budgies were in constant action and I took them in the evening (I don’t like to use the flash). Here is Ozzie (who is moulting – again) next to the “starburst”. This toy was a definite hit.
Dewey seeing what all the fuss is about.
Cooper hard at work untying the knots.
No one would go near this toy – but I’m sure once they figure out it won’t eat them, it will provide lots of fun.
Sunny claiming the “marshmallows”. When she’s busy elsewhere, the other budgies sneak in a nibble.
There was feasting on millet and lettuce as well.
I had a gift to open, too! These little budgie salt and pepper shakers were from my friend, Craig. They’re so darn cute (almost as cute as the real thing) – thank you Craig!
